Supplier evaluation consists of assigning a rating, based on a series of criteria that allow the supplier's performance to be scored in relation to the quality of the good/service provided.
1. Initial assessment of a new supplier
The initial assessment is carried out as soon as the supplier is considered to provide the good or service in question that has a direct influence on the product.
The criteria defined for the initial assessment are as follows:
- Certification (C):
o Certification 9001, 14001 and 45001 (3 standards) – 5 points
o Certification 9001 and/or 14001 and/or 45001 (2 standards) – 4 points
o Certification 9001 or 14001 or 45001 (1 standard) – 3 points
o In the process of implementation – 1 points
o No certification – 0 points - Budget submission (O):
o Up to 3 days – 5 points
o Up to 5 days – 3 points
o Up to 10 days – 1 point
o > 10 days – 0 points - Contract and payment conditions (CP):
o Up to 60 days – 5 points
o Up to 30 days – 3 points
o Prompt payment – 1 point
o Prepayment – 0 points - Location (L):
o Up to 20 km – 5 points
o Up to 50 km – 3 points
o Up to 100 km – 1 points
o > 100 km – 0 points - Price (P) – Comparative map:
o Lowest price – 5 points
o Same price – 3 points
o Highest price – 0 points
The sum of the four criteria gives rise to the level at which the supplier is located (AI=C+O+CP+L+P):
Level Assessment
20≤AI>25 Preferred Supplier
15≤AI>20 Alternative supplier
7≤AI>15 Supplier to be checked later
AI <7 Do not consider
Exceptionally, if there are no alternative suppliers, the initial assessment may not be considered and Bio4Plas may maintain relations with a supplier with a low assessment until it has a viable alternative.
2. Continuous supplier assessment
Continuous supplier assessment is carried out every 2 years for all suppliers that provide goods or services with a direct influence on the product.
The criteria defined for the continuous evaluation of suppliers are the following:
- Certification
- Compliance with purchase requirements (Quantity and reference)
- Sending a budget within the established amount
- Leadtime (between order and supply)
- Compliance with delivery deadline
- Quality of products/services
- Number of nonconformities
- Availability for clarifications
- Speed and effectiveness of response
- Environmental and safety performance
The continuous evaluation of the supplier is carried out by adding the value obtained for each of the criteria, based on this distribution:
Value Description
0 Does not comply
0.5 Meets less than 50%
1 Complies with 50%
1.5 Complies with more than 50%
2 Completely complies
The supplier's rating will be from 0 to 20 and its level is thus defined considering the distribution of the first table.
After the evaluation, it is verified what level the supplier is now in compared to the last evaluation (initial or continuous):
- Same level;
- Higher level;
- Lower level – in the case of switching to an alternative supplier or supplier to be verified later, Bio4Plas will inform the supplier, via email, of the points to improve in future supplies. In case of having a continuous evaluation for more than 2 years below 5, the supplier will be excluded from the supplier database.
